I donated in support of this campaign.
You are invited to join the 8th annual Hike for Congo!
Hike for Congo 2018 is July 7! We will hike together in Pinckney Rec Area outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan and fundraise for our Congo Connect partners in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Hikers are encouraged to fundraise for the cause or make a donation. Hike for Congo is a fundraiser for youth who are a part of the Il Est Temps #Telema peace movement.
D. R. Congo has been in conflict for over 20 years -over 6 million people have died- and the conflict is ongoing. Rape has been used by all sides of the conflict as a weapon of war. A UN official called D.R.Congo the worst place in the world to be a woman or a girl. Human rights atrocities continue today.
#Telema means stand up in Lingala. It is a global Congolese movement unfolding both in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and in the Diaspora. Launched in the wake of the January 19, 2015 uprising in the Congo, #Telema aims to support, develop and sustain an organized popular movement in the Congo for peace, justice and human dignity.
All donations go directly to the #Telema peace activist movement.
